　　The Corp consists of 18 sci-tech academies and institutes which are directly subordinate to the former Ministry of Chemical Industry. It carries out the research and development of fundamental chemical raw material, new chemical new materials, coal chemical industry, rubber and plastic manufacture, fine chemicals , machinery equipment of chemical industry , chemical industry of national defense etc. It owns a large number of independent intellectual property rights and know-hows such as the technology of acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, carbon black, radial tire, thiokol, fluorine chemical industry, electron gas, variable-voltage adsorption, hermetic calcium carbide stove etc., and a team of professional technical personnel of more than 5,000. It also owns two state-class engineering research centres for reaction inject molding and the C1 chemistry, four national quality test centers including Rubber Tire Quality Supervision and Inspection Centre, 9 test centers at the ministerial level, two state-accredited enterprise technology centers, the more than ten provincial enterprise technology centers, 22 kinds of academic journals. It has accomplished nearly 1000 major projects in recent years, applied for the patent of 480 items, gained many provincial and ministerial rewards, developed and stored a large number of scientific and technological achievements.
